Aircraft Jewellery Care Guide
Caring for Your Aircraft-Skin Jewellery
Each piece from The Aviation Jeweller is crafted from genuine aircraft materials — including original paint, patina, and surface finish. Because these materials have their own history, they deserve a little extra care.
Storing Your Piece
- Store in the soft pouch or box provided, away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Keep each piece separately to avoid scratching.
- Avoid storing in bathrooms or near heat sources.
Cleaning & Handling
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry or very slightly damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cloths, brushes, or scouring pads.
- Avoid all chemical cleaners, jewellery dips, ultrasonic cleaners, and polishing agents — these can damage or strip original aircraft paint and surface finishes.
- Do not immerse your piece in water.
Protecting the Original Patina
- The aged patina and original paint are part of what makes each piece unique. Avoid rubbing vigorously, which can wear away these surfaces.
- Handle your piece by the edges or mount where possible, rather than the face of the aircraft material.
Wearing Your Piece
- Remove jewellery before swimming, bathing, exercising, or applying perfume, hairspray, or lotions.
- Put your jewellery on last when getting dressed.
General Tips
- Inspect settings and fastenings periodically to ensure stones or components remain secure.
- If your piece requires repair or professional attention, contact us before attempting any at-home fix.
